The CMRR's all Voluteer crew on hand October 9th,2004 On October 9th 2004 the CMRR opened up a section of railroad that had not seen a passenger in 50 years through the dedication and planning of an all volunteer employee roster. The crossing over SR 28 and heavy bridge and track work was contracted out and completed just in time for the autumn colors. Trackside PhotosAlong the Reservoir Today a 5 man crew headed by Tom Healy and Chris Bigham cut west from the end of the Glenford Dike, MP 11.3. Here is the crew as they started cutting on this beautiful day. Behind them is the Ashokan reservoir. Pictured in the photo are Chris Bigham, Al Johnson, Ed Palmatier, Matt Giardino and John LaBarre who stopped by to visit. Ernie Hunt Photo Volunteers made it possible for NARCOA to extend the D&U trackcar meet onto the Catskill Mountain Railroad as far as Station Road in Pine Hill. Ulster County Planning Board Studies the The Rail Trail Corridor Many believe the county is under pressure to convert unused "Out of Service" portions of the Right of Way Leased to the CMRR to a Walking Path. We at the CMRR believe rail with trail is the only option available, the railroad is not abandoned as is the case with the other rail trails in the county with no track on them. http://www.co.ulster.ny.us/planning/rtrail.html Link to the CMRR Discussion Group |
